Can anyone help me with an ear related issue Im having?

I know it is always best to seek medical advice/opinion from a professional but maybe I would ask around to see if other have had similiar experinces..... To state the usual...many ear infections as a child...tubes..yada yda yada...Im 32 now...in 2006 I was involved in a motorcycle acident that injured me severely, The left side of my body took the brunt of it all...Left ear gave me the majoraty of my trouble as a child....recently...past 1-2 years Ive been getting sick more often then I tend to...from the simple cough & cold to upper respratory, chest congestion, nasal, left ear not draining well, my asthma flares up more, larengitis, bronchitis....all these I have had in the past 12 months...Ive just recently had a hearing test...It did show some loss of hearing in the left ear and my last 3 doctor's visits I have been told when asked at my request to check the fluid in im left ear that yeah Im right its built up and was told that scar tissue was noticed...yesterday I heard this again from my new doctor...I went for a routine visit and to have my ears nose and throat checked ( felt a cough/cold coming on) I was given and Rx for antibiotics...woke up this morning with the worst pain I may have ever felt in my ear! It is constant...reluctantly tried to clean it gently with a cotton swab and it felt like my ear was swollen and the pain was so tremeandous i couldnt even proceed. To me...a non medical professional but someone just familiar with my body I would say...ear infection.....started on the antibiotics but obviously those take time...anyone have any input and maybe some suggestions aside from the typical warm compress to help eleviate my pain in my ear?
