Do you believe in hypnose? Could someone possibly hypnotise you?

i was hypnotised a few years ago. I had been a smoker for over 30 years. I went to some middle aged ladies house, sat on a comfy chair closed my eyes and she talked to me about smoking for 30 mins. Didn't feel any different but did not smoke when I left the house. I don't know if you are a smoker but for this to happen it proves that it works.
