Why does diesel cost more!?

interesting question, I am old enough to remember that the only diesel engine`s produced in quantity was used in military vehicles just before and during the second world war, and the stuff they made diesel from was a waste material left over from petrol that they actually used to throw away, so between the oil producers and the government you can put down to greed. Rudolf Diesel did them a mive favour.
